With regards to the Downsman Hike, which took place on Saturday 2nd October, the committee would like to wholeheartedly congratulate all teams for performing exceptionally well in utterly miserable conditions, everyone should be incredibly proud of their achievements. We have debated on whether to put our wonderful trophies in the under stairs cupboard for another year, or to award them to the teams that were leading their class at 13:34, the time which we took the decision to stop teams at Service Areas. The competitive classes of the Downsman are, for want of a better word, a race. As we know, COVID has robbed Scouts of so much opportunity, for the event to then be beaten by the weather just seems unfair. Having analysed the data from the checkpoint timing record sheets, we have decided that we would like to award the trophies. Please see the website for timing data. Next year’s hike will take place on Saturday 1st October 2022. We hope to see you then.

The teams that were ahead when we had to close the event where as follows:
- A Class = 49 “A Team”
- B Class = Dead Heat between 51 “Red Team” & 52 “Green Team” (cannot determine who would have been leading at 13:34) Trophy to be shared.
- E Class = 6 “Trident B”
- S Class = 4th Uckfield
- S Class Walk = 1st Buxted
- V Class – No Teams entered.
